Bubba'n'Stix A500 27th Anniversary : New Level 5 The Sewer System 2021 DLC (A FanFiction/Art by a Fan)
Incredible, the developers of the upcoming Bubba’n’Stix DLC have released A NEW LEVEL ! It takes place after Bubba has explored The Underwater Alien Temple. Now, instead of strangely surfacing inside a spaceport, Bubba now reaches The Sewers of The Zoo. It might actually play the role of a first part to The Zoo level as it’s indicated as being part of that same level on the minimap.
As opposed to my previous articles, I won't try to mimic or describe gameplay this time and will mainly let the images speak for themselves.
(After having completed the Level 3 path, I hadn’t planned to make another one of these Bubba’n’Stix levels but I came across the screenshot of a mysterious level (Maybe an earlier version of level 2 I suppose) at the back of a box of the game I didn’t know about. So I just felt like remaking this screenshot and then one thing leading to another, I made this short level. I was a bit more respectful of the amiga color limitations this time, that which doesn’t mean this could realistically be made on an amiga, I think certain sprites might be too big for the machine to run them. It’s just a “fanfiction level.” Also, I was a bit less rigorous on the perspective as I didn't have the original graphics to help me and didn't plan to make this in the first place)
The 15 color palette + 1 transparent color, I used for 99% of the things in this level that I did not consider to be hardware sprites (Bubba, bonuses, Waldo). I might have cheated once or twice (especially when reusing elements from other levels) or overestimated the capacity of an Amiga to display independent 15 colors sprites but overall I respected the palette and its limitations.
Winning the game allows Bubba to leave the prison. The Yellow button changes the symbols hierarchy and thus slightly changes the game’s dynamic for the next time Bubba is captured.
(Jumping is immediate death and a proof that this level is just a fanfiction as the developers of the original game would never have put that kind of death trap in it.)
The principal of the level is that Bubba has to turn on a few machines in order to drown the shaft in green mud so as to create a path to the exit door.
A better designed level would have started with the activation of a first machine that would have made the interaction and the goal obvious.
If Bubba tries to go through the gates, the yellow alien blows in the tube and burning smoke is released by the machine.
